About Golden Rule
Resources, Training, Partnerships & More
The mission of The Golden Rule Global Civility Initiative is to create a new world-wide culture, where human-kind abounds, where honoring and valuing others is the expectation, and the norm.
In a culture of civility and honor people treatment is based on The Golden Rule.
Golden Rule Civility® means choosing to treat others humanely and with care; accepting differences without judgment; being empathetic of the human condition; and acknowledging each individual’s unique gifts and equal value.
There are few challenges that cannot be resolved through deliberate and strategic communication. Through civility skill-building and the creation of opportunities for interaction and engagement, carefully selected and trained Golden Rule Civility Statesmen can effectively interrupt uncivil behavior and unproductive thinking patterns and create an environment for Golden Rule Dialogue.
Golden Rule Dialogue is communication where the intention is to learn from the diverse perspectives of others, to listen for change, and to gain knowledge for building better systems. Golden Rule Dialogue enables participants to make more efficient and effective decisions that will benefit organizations, individuals, teams, communities, and even countries. Successful Golden Rule Dialogue requires that those participating value honor, civility, peace, and each other.
Behind the Initiative
Lew Bayer, Dr. Clyde Rivers & Dr. Donella Pitzl
The Golden Rule Civility Global Initiative is a joint effort co-created by Dr. Clyde Rivers and the team with iChange Nations, and Lew Bayer and the team at Civility Experts Inc. Worldwide. The goal of the Golden Rule Civility Initiative is to bring together the philosophy of people treatment based on the golden rule – which has long been the mission of iChange Nations, and the practical tools, resources and competency-based civility training that Civility Experts Inc. specializes in. Golden Rule Civility Statesmen Certification program curriculum and the Golden Rule Civility Young Leader’s program materials are validated by the International Civility Trainers’ Consortium.
